SUMMARY:11/23 & 11/24 The Yoga of Relationships
DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n Relationships can serve as a primary source of suffering or joy. This intensive will give students an in-depth study of yogic philosophy and how it applies to relationships. Yoga is about transformation. As we learn to improve communication\, we are empowered\, and we begin to change. As we interact with others\, this change can start to permeate the lives of others. \nBy understanding the Yamas\, one of the eight limbs of yoga philosophy\, we can find the direct applications of these teachings to our relationships and use this knowledge to upgrade them. We will focus on how to assess relationship issues\, ask clarifying questions\, and integrate appropriate practices to cultivate sattvic (balanced) relationships. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Course Details\n \n \n \n \n \n Course Tuition:\n\n$225\nIncluded in 300hr auto-pay\n12 contact hours\n\nCourse Dates:\n\nSaturday\, 11/23 12:30 – 6:30 pm PST\nSunday\, 11/24 12:30 – 6:30 pm PST\nIn-studio + Zoom\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Click To Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Kelsey Delane\, C-IAYT\, E-RYT 500\n Kelsey Delane\, C-IAYT\, E-RYT 500\, is a Yoga Mentor & Reiki Master who guides fellow Yogis & Yoga Teachers toward more sustained joy using time-tested\, practical tools. SUMMARY:11/5 & 11/6 Proprioception and Use of Ethical Touch
DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n The intention of this 12-hour weekend intensive is to provide additional tools yoga teachers and yoga therapist trainees can use to assess and support their clients. We will discuss ethics and consent\, hand placement and quality of touch\, longevity and safety for the Yoga Therapist as related to transference and body mechanics\, and how clear verbal and visual cues can provide a similar result without using touch when it may be contraindicated. Touch can help improve musculoskeletal imbalances\, breath awareness\, proprioception and provide security and connection\, and our sense of touch provides us with essential information for enhancing kinesthetic learning. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Course Details\n \n \n \n \n \n Course Tuition:\n\n$225\nIncluded in 300hr auto-pay\n12 contact hours\n\nCourse Dates:\n\nSaturday November 9th\, 12:30 – 6:30 PM PST\nSunday November 10th\, 12:30 – 6:30 PM PST\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Click To Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Allison Martin Prince C-IAYT\, E-RYT 500\, CMT\n This course is led by Allison Prince. SUMMARY:10/20 Ayurveda as Lifestyle Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n For all students\, learn about Ayurveda’s key to achieving abundant health and vitality. \nIt is the regularity of our day to day actions and habits that can either provide the foundation of wellness or dis-ease.  Discover Ayurveda\, the planet’s oldest\, nature-based\, medical system and the sister science of Yoga. In this 9 hour workshop\, for the curious and yoga teachers we will look at The Ayurvedic paradigm as it relates to the three body types or doshas and formulate ways to individualize the tools of yoga to support each student in their practice taking into account the individual\, their stage of life\, the season\, and the individuals life goals. \n\nAyurveda recognizes that each person is born with a unique physical\, psychological and emotional constitution or prakruti. Through our daily relationships\, practices\, and the beliefs that shape them\, our constitutions can become imbalanced\, leading to disease. \nAyurveda’s key to achieving abundant health and vitality is to recognize our lack of harmony or vikruti in one or more of these areas. Then\, under the guidance of an experienced practitioner\, we take steps to restore our natural constitutional balance. Ayurveda doesn’t offer a “magic bullet” cure. This perennial science of living teaches us to accept our responsibility ‘to’ rather than ‘for’ our own physical\, mental and emotional condition. \nSimply put\, positive change is the result of conscious\, consistent practice. The roadmap for wellness is Tri-Dosha\, or ‘three constitutions’ theory\, as expressed in nature and the individual. This profound\, pervasive paradigm points to age and season- appropriate behaviors aligning us with the natural healing forces which create healthier\, more vibrant versions of ourselves. \n\n \nIn this workshop\, we will explore:\n \n\n\nThe Roots of Āyurveda\nThe Āyurveda-Yoga Connection: Sāmkhya\nThe Tri-Doshic Theory: Turning Philosophy into Medicine\nExamining the Doshas as the basis of Health and Disease\nCikitsa: Personalizing Medicine\nDinacarya: Daily Living as Medicine\nĀhāra & Pāthya: Food as Medicine\nMānasika Cikitsa: Āyurvedic & Yogic Psychology\nYoga Therapy through the Eyes of Āyurveda: One size does not fit all.\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Course Details\n \n \n \n \n \n Course Tuition:\n\n$175\nIncluded in 300hr auto-pay\n9 contact hours\n\nCourse Dates:\n\nSunday October 20th – 8:30 – 11:30 AM PST\nSunday October 20th – 12:30 – 6:30 PM PST\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Click To Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Arun Deva\, DASc\, AYT\, E-RYT(500)\, C-IAYT\, YTRx \n Arun Deva\, DASc\, AYT\, E-RYT(500)\, C-IAYT\, YTRx is a graduate of the American Institute Of Ayurveda; Ayurvedic Practitioner (NAMA)\, Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist (NAMA)\, Yoga Therapist (IAYT) and a Vinyasa Krama certified yoga teacher (E-RYT500). SUMMARY:4/27 Yoga Therapy + Public Health Course
DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n This course explores the various factors that influence health at the macro-level using a public health lens\, while at the same time\, exploring the inner world of the human being using Yoga models to identify and treat imbalances.\nThis course explores the various factors that influence health at the macro-level using a public health lens\, while at the same time\, exploring the inner world of the human being using Yoga models to identify and treat imbalances.Class lectures provide an introduction to the primary yoga therapy assessment models based upon the teachings of the Yoga Sutras and the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya. Students will learn how to use these models to assess client imbalances\, identify contraindications and implement appropriate tools based on client assessments. You will learn broad strokes yoga therapy practices for conditions that include: low back ailments\, heart disease\, respiratory/energetic imbalances\, addiction\, digestive ailments\, and relationship issues. \nIn addition\, the public health perspective examines why current interventions have been ineffective at curbing the chronic disease epidemic with the majority of Americans dying from heart disease\, smoking\, cancer\, diabetes and digestive illnesses that can largely be prevented with changes in diet\, lifestyle\, and stress management.\n \nAfter understanding current disease trends and behavioral risk factors\, we seek to remedy these conditions with the myriad of tools and practices that yoga has to offer. In fact\, Yoga addresses the underlying causes of chronic conditions and provides a time-tested holistic healing system with the sole purpose of creating a clear\, stable\, rational mind that will make good choices. Thus Yoga provides the sound methodology that our current public health educators lack to empower the individual with tools to change and sustain positive health behaviors. \nIn addition\, this course weaves in an invaluable public health perspective to empower yoga therapists with language to advocate for yoga therapy services within health systems. Trainees will gain knowledge of the risk factors that influence health behaviors and how yoga therapy intervention programs can be applied to improve health outcomes for specific conditions. Trainees will also learn how to develop\, implement and evaluate group yoga therapy programs for specific populations or health conditions. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Course Details\n \n \n \n \n \n Course Tuition:\n\n$450\nIncluded in 300hr auto-pay\n24 Contact Hours\n\nCourse Dates:\n\nClass 1: 4/27/24\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – The Human Condition from a Yoga Perspective\nSession 2: 5/4/24 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Intro to Yoga Philosophy: How to Alleviate Suffering  and the Human Condition from a Public Health Perspective\nSession 3: 6/1/24\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – The Spine: physical imbalances (strained low back muscles\, herniated discs\, sciatica)\, The Abdomen and Digestion: physical / mental / emotional / energetic factors and treatment tools\nSession 4: 6/23/24\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM– How Yoga Therapy Works + Assessment Models\nSession 5: 7/13/24\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Bringing Yoga Therapy into Vulnerable Communities\nSession 6: 11/9/24\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Yoga Therapy for the Heart and Lungs.\nSession 7: 11/23/24\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Yoga Therapy for Creating a Balanced Mind. SUMMARY:3/5 & 3/6 Anatomy\, Biomechanics\, and Movement for Yoga Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n For Yoga Teachers\, get first-hand experience of your own embodied\, sound alignment through practice\, learning anatomical context and imagery.\nIn this 2-day intensive with Cheri Dostal Ryba\, you’ll get first-hand experience of your own embodied\, sound alignment through practice\, learning anatomical context and imagery. We can best teach what we can feel and embody personally. \nDive into this intensive workshop to find greater structural alignment\, integrity and strength in your own practice as well as gaining skills of discernment and context for working with your students. Part of our work is developing a language for what we see\, how to recognize risk and observe the patterns of what manifests in a person’s asana practice. \nWe will also enjoy discussion around how physical alignment can support the other limbs of our practice and our life. We will close our time and deeply reconnect with a restorative practice. \nThis class provides a comprehensive exploration of the physical structure to understand optimal and faulty muscle recruitment patterns that have been identified to contribute to common musculoskeletal impairments. The skill of observation develops the ability to identify postures and muscle recruitment patterns that may cause faulty postures\, repetitive strain\, overstretching\, low back pain\, and energy inefficiency. \nIf you don’t already have a copy of Yoga: Mind Body Spirit by Donna Farhi\, it would be a welcome addition to your library and may support your process after this intensive. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Course Details\n \n \n \n \n \n Course Tuition:\n\n$299\nIncluded in 300hr auto-pay\n\nCourse Dates:\n\nSaturday\, March 5th 12:30 – 6:30 pm\nSunday\, March 6th 12:30 – 6:15 pm\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Click To Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Cheri Dostal Ryba\, C-IAYT\, E-RYT 500\n Cheri Dostal Ryba is Co-Director of our Yoga Therapist Training.
